Goal & Objective

Hami Yuwa, Nepal Biratnagar has actively engaged in social mobilization, youth and women empowerment, and community development through issue- and rights-based approaches. Our primary focus is on socially, economically, culturally, and politically marginalized young people and communities.

Hami Yuwa is a registered nonprofit, youth-led organization committed to promoting youth empowerment through active participation and advocacy. Since 2011, youth activists within Hami Yuwa have been working in this sector, initially unofficially and later officially, with the organization’s registration in 2015. Hami Yuwa initially focused on providing a platform for youth to develop their leadership skills, train as activists, and build themselves as agents of change. As the organization evolved, it embraced specific thematic working areas that eventually shaped Hami Yuwa as it stands today. The term "Hami Yuwa," rooted in Nepali, means "We Youth."

Our work focuses on youth skills development, personality building, confidence enhancement, and fostering optimism. We have a strong youth network across the Morang District and Biratnagar region, with youth teams in all 19 wards. Hami Yuwa is committed to embracing diversity, with members of various origins, ethnicities, races, and religions, all unified by a common goal: social betterment through activism. Our Biratnagar Youth Center serves as a dedicated space where young people gather, discuss, and plan for their personal growth and contributions to society.

Hami Yuwa envisions a society where youth, as indispensable change agents, are motivated with optimism and empowered with the potential and confidence to create positive change. We believe that energized youth will one day spread optimism and positivity among themselves and others.

Hami Yuwa’s leadership consists exclusively of youth between the ages of 16 and 35, with the organization governed and run by youth of this same age group. We also aim to foster youth-adult partnerships on various issues. Hami Yuwa is committed to serving all youth regardless of origin, area, ethnicity, race, religion, or political belief, embracing the principles of “unity in diversity” and “diversity in unity.”
